Rapunzel Hair tutorial!!

Hello Beauties!!
Today's Look is a recreation of Rapunzel's braid hairstyle from tangled!! I love this movie and love the character of Rapunzel! She beautiful inside and out, and brings out the best in even the most unlikely people! If you would like to capture some of the outward beauty of this awesome Princess and find out how to make her look work for your style; then this is the post for you!!
                                                               * RAPUNZEL*

                                                                    TOOLS

Supplies Needed:                                                             Optional Supplies

*Brush                                                                            * Clip in hair extensions
*Bobby pins (Infinity of them)                                          *Flower hair accessories
*2 ponytails                                                                    * Flower crown

                                                                 THE LOOK

Step 1

Brush Your  Hair

Tease the Crown

Step 2

Make 3 twists with the front portion of your hair and swoop them back secure with Bobby's

Step 3

Separate a 2/3 inch section of hair near the base of your neck then ponytail the rest out of the way

Braid the 2/3 inch section into two small braids

Step 4

What to do with the other side...french braid that side of your hair across the back of your head aiming towards the side that your large braid will be on then bobby pin the hair. This will secure the front of your hair out of your face kind of like a half up half down hairstyle. The tail of this braid will eventually be part of the big braid so you can just pin it and let the tail hang down once you reach the opposite side of your head.

Step 5

Take out the ponytail and sweep your hair to the side. Section your hair into three pieces to make a regular three strand braid (Leave the two small braids out of the three sections)

Start braiding with the 3 large sections. Each time you take one of the outward larger sections (on either the Left or right) wrap the large section with one of the two smaller braids... continue wrapping and braiding until you get to the bottom of your hair. If this seems to complex just start braiding and adding in the small braids it'll still look good even if you don't totally get how to do this part you just want to make the small braids show up against the three larger sections!!

It should look something like this!!

*You want the small braids to pop out as shown in the pic below; to get a true Rapunzel inspired look*

Step 6

Do some touch ups!!
Fan out the twisted front sections

Pull the pieces of the braid apart to make a thicker pancake braid

Cover over the ponytail by wrapping it with your hair; like at the end of Rapunzel's braid.

After the touch ups the braid should look like this

Step 7
The finished look and styling options!! You can dress this hairstyle up or down depending on where you are going. I wore the plain braid at work today (I did it there too; if you couldn't tell from the background scenery of my pics LOL) The more whimsical looks would be perfect for a picnic, the beach, or even a concert!

Plain Braid

Decorated with flower clips

Braid with flower crown

Ta Da you did it!! The finished Rapunzel look YAY!!

(P.S. For you ladies with shorter hair you can still get this look.. Tease the crown, style your bangs as desired then just do a half up half down hair style and flip the ponytail inside out to create a topsy tail. That will give you a similar twisty look. Leave the bottom portion of your hair down just braid the section that is in the ponytail with the same steps used on the large braid shown above. Decorate with one flower clip to hide the ponytail!!)

Check out next weeks look I will be doing TWO looks inspired by The Little Mermaid's Ariel!!!

Do You Want to Build a Hair Do?!

                                                             **Elsa inspired hair do**

Do you want to build a hair do!? Well you have come to the right place! Today's look is an Elsa inspired  hair tutorial! In this post I have included step by step pictures to show you how to get a volumized french braid like the one Elsa wears in Frozen! Frozen is one of my favorite movies right now so this was a super fun look to create, especially while listening to all of the songs from the movie, and singing along! I hope you enjoy my take on Elsa's look! Here go's!

To Start you need:                                                              Optional items:

 * Hair brush                                                                       * Heat protection spray
 * Bobby pins                                                                     * Curling iron
 * Ponytail                                                                          * Decorative hair clips
(aka hair tie they are called ponytails in our house)
 * Hair spray

                                                                          Step 1

Brush hair and create a poof at the front of your hair. To create a textured look like Elsa has don't grab all of the hair in one swoop grab small sections at a time. Twist/swoop all of the front hair sections back into the poof including your bangs. Keep working with it until it you like the look. Bobby pin in place.

This is about the amount of hair you want to include in the poof. Section off hair above ears only.

Step 2

Once you have formed the front of your hair to your desired look; take the hair you sectioned off earlier (The section divided horizontally above your ears) and ponytail or clip it out of the way so you can work with the bottom section of your hair.

  Step 3

Grab a 2 to 3 inch section of hair from behind one of your ears. This will be the piece used to start the braid. Since this is a side hair do think about which side you want the braid to end up on in the finished looked and pick up a section of hair to start off with from the opposite side.

Step 4

Start a diagonal French Braid beginning at the base of your neck behind one ear and continue braiding aiming the braid up toward the top corner of your other ear.

Once you have braided across the back of your head scooping up all the hair into the Diagonal french braid (moving from the base of one ear upward toward the top of the other) make a ponytail at the back of your head close to the top of your ear.

It should look something like this...don't worry looking horrible mid hair style is part of it turning out good lol

Scooping large sections when you are making the braid creates the same textured look that we used for the poof earlier it's ok if the braid looks piecey like this because we are going for the textured look... See :)

Step 5

Once you have secured the ponytail to hold the diagonal braid take down the top section and tease it. Be careful not to tease it to hard and mess up the poof  or make the bobby pins fall out ( you want the poof intact you are just trying to add volume to the top chunk of  hair directly behind the poof....the crown.) Tease then loosely bobby pin the section like this just to keep it poofed up.

At this point you have two choices: to make this a wearable messy french braid or special occasion hair do. This sectioned off  piece of hair is the part we will use to make the look everyday or fancy. I'll show you how in just a second but lets continue.

Step 6

Take out the ponytail from above your ear and begin french braiding again (you don't have to grab the same sections as you did when you made the first braid...the messy-ness is part of the style) Start braiding from where the ponytail sat on your head and when you run out of hair to french braid (you'll probably only get 2 to 3 french braid pieces) Continue braiding the tail of your hair as a regular 3 strand braid.
** MAKE SURE NOT TO BRAID IN THE TOP CHUNK OF HAIR LEAVE IT ON TOP**

 The Options

1.) Wearable Messy Braid
Tuck the poofed top section of hair into the top of the braid at the back of your hair and arrange it in a second textured poof as shown.

Or....

2.) Special occasion textured curls braid
Curl the top section of hair and arrange the curls on top of your head behind the poof above the braid.

Another idea to make this style truly special is to add sparkly hair clips inspired by Elsa's snow flake adorned hair. Check out these gorgeous twist in clips! Try adding a few to the length of the braid.

These clips were found at Wedding Favor Set, but my favorite are from Icing! Links below!

Step 7

Once you have decided whether you want to go everyday wearable or fancy do some final styling.

(I decided to do Wearable...I am trying to grow my hair longer so I am attempting to avoid heat styling)

You can pull out some small pieces of hair to frame your face like this.

You can also re-adjust the front poof by snagging/fluffing it with a bobby pin to make it more textured.

     Step 8

Hairspray and Voila your done with your Elsa Inspired do!!!

**SURPRISE**

I couldn't do a Frozen Princess hair tutorial without including Anna! Today's post is a two-fer!
Anna

Since Anna's pigtail braid hair do is so simple I just included a few photos of styling ideas!

1.) Teased crown pigtail braids

2.) Head band Pigtail Braids

Thanks for checking out this Elsa and Anna Frozen hair tutorial and p.s. I hope your singing and smiling and have all of the wonderful Frozen songs in your head now!!! I have been singing them all day ;) !!

God Bless and I can't wait to post the next tutorial on Rapunzel!!!!
